Answer ( 1 )

  1. Centripetal acceleration = v^2 ÷ r

v^2 is constant. This means the object’s centripetal acceleration is constant. The direction of the centripetal force is always perpendicular to the direction the object is moving. When you drive your car around a circle at a constant speed, the direction the car is moving is constantly changing. This happens to any object that is moving around a circle at a constant speed.

Velocity is a vector. This means velocity has magnitude and direction. In the example, the magnitude of velocity is constant. But the direction is constantly changing. This is the reason the object’s velocity is not constant. The car has linear and radial velocity. The direction of its radial velocity is constantly changing.
