A metal Sphere has a radius of 3.0 mm and a Mass of 0.96 g.

Calculate the volume of the Sphere and then the Density of the metal?

  1. To solve this problem, the radius must be in meters and mass in kilograms.

    r = 3 * 10^-3 m
    V = 4/3 * π * (3 * 10^-3)^3 = π * 3.6 * 10^-8
    This is approximately 1.13 * 10^-7 m^3.
    Mass = 0.96 * 0.001 = 9.6 * 10^-4 kg

    Density = 9.6 * 10^-4 ÷ (π * 3.6 * 10^-8)
    The density is approximately 8,488 kg/m^3.
