Archimedes principle (floating object)?

Question

The question asks for the value of x. I understand the equation must be
25x=something

And since the object is floating, volume of water displaced = volume of object immersed. How do we find the volume of object immersed?

I’m not sure if I’m getting the concept right..other related equation is Vpg=mg (V is volume of fluid displaced and m is mass of fluid displaced)

Answer ( 1 )

  1. A = 25 cm^2
    h = V/A = 250/25 = 10 cm
    h*ρwd = x*ρwt
    x = h*ρwd/ρwt = 10*800/1000 = 8,0 cm
